Presentation of 2024 Airblazer Award Takes Place During the 2024 Morning Show Boot Camp
Dallas, Texas (June 3, 2024): Mentoring and Inspiring Women in Radio, Inc. (MIW), a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to the advancement of female leadership in radio broadcasting, in association with Morning Show Boot Camp are delighted to announce legendary show host Delilah, of the Premiere Radio Networks, syndicated Delilah Show as the recipient of the 9th annual 2024 MIW Airblazer Award.
The MIW Airblazer Award stems from an alliance formed in 2015 between MIW and Morning Show Boot Camp (MSBC). The recipient is carefully selected, as is tradition, by the prior year’s recipient and is recognized for her dedication and contributions to the broadcast industry and to the communities she serves. The 2024 Airblazer Award will be presented to Delilah, during the Morning Show Boot Camp, on Friday, August 9, 2024, at the Hard Rock Hotel in San Diego, CA. To register for 2024 MSBC visit: https://radiomsbc.com/.
With an audience of over eight million weekly listeners on 160 radio stations, Delilah is the most-listened-to-woman on radio in the U.S.
Commenting on the announcement, Delilah said, "I'm honored to be recognized by MIW and MSBC and awarded with the Airblazer Award this year, joining a group of very talented women who've also received this award. I do my very best to stay true to my audience relationship and provide the best one-on-one communication I know how. If my actions inspire other women on the air to do the same, then I'm all more humbled by this recognition".
MIW Board President Ruth Presslaff adds, “Delilah’s dedication to the radio industry, to children, and to communities far and wide has rightfully garnered an impressive collection of awards. MIW is proud to add Airblazer to the list. We are, as always, appreciative of Don Anthony for partnering with us on recognizing extraordinary women broadcasters.”
2023 MIW Airblazer Dana Cortez, creator, and host of the nationally syndicated Dana Cortez Show said, “I’m beyond excited to announce I have chosen Delilah as this year’s Airblazer Award from Mentoring and Inspiring Women in Radio. Listening to Delilah gave me chills and learning about her career in radio gave me inspiration. The ceilings she broke through have opened up opportunity for every woman who has ever dreamed of a career behind the mic. Now everyone sing DE LIIIII LAAAHHHHH.”
In addition to Delilah and Dana, previous MIW Airblazers include Patty Steele (2022), DeDe McGuire (2021), Angela Yee (2020), Kellie Rasberry (2019), Mercedes Martinez (2018), Roula Christie (2017), Angie Martinez (2016), and Ellen K (2015).
Delilah celebrated the 35-year anniversary of her radio program in 2021 and has been honored with the industry’s highest accolades– an induction into the Radio Hall of Fame in 2016, a 2017 National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) Broadcast Hall of Fame induction, marking the first time in 35 years that a woman would receive such a distinction. She’s also been recognized by the Alliance of Women in Media and received a NAB Marconi Award.
In addition to her weekly radio show, Delilah is also a radio station owner and the author of four books, including “One Heart at a Time,” which features a first-person autobiographical portrayal of Delilah’s life and her nature of focusing on one person at a time.
As a mother of 15 children, 12 of whom she adopted, Delilah established a foundation in 2004 called Point Hope as a voice for children and their mothers in Ghana and children in U.S. foster care system. Delilah has traveled to Ghana 33 times in the last 19 years to facilitate the impact of Point Hope to various communities throughout Ghana. She was recognized by the National Council of Adoption in 2018, being inducted into the Hall of Fame.
